Advanced HVAC Systems

VRF, VRV and chilled water system installations for commercial, industrial and large-scale developments across  South Africa and Africa.

VRF, VRV & CHILLED WATER INSTALLATIONS

Specialised HVAC Systems for Complex Building Requirements

Large commercial buildings often require more than a conventional air conditioning installation. Different areas may have different heating and cooling requirements, occupancy levels and operating schedules, making it important to select systems that provide effective temperature control while managing energy consumption.

At Airwise, we install VRF, VRV and chilled water HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare and large residential developments. Based in Cape Town, our project experience extends across South Africa and into several African countries, where we work alongside consulting engineers, developers, main contractors and project teams to deliver specialised air conditioning installations.

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) and Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) systems are commonly used in buildings where different rooms or zones require individual temperature control. These systems connect multiple indoor units to one or more outdoor units, allowing heating and cooling to be managed across different areas of a building. They are particularly suited to offices, hotels, retail developments and multi-storey residential buildings where space, flexibility and energy management are important considerations.

Chilled water systems provide another solution for larger buildings with substantial cooling requirements. These systems use chilled water circulated through pipework to air handling units, fan coil units or other terminal equipment, allowing cooling to be distributed throughout a building. They are often used in large commercial facilities, hotels, healthcare developments and buildings requiring centralised cooling infrastructure.

Successful installation depends on careful coordination between the HVAC equipment and the wider building services. Refrigerant pipework, chilled water piping, insulation, condensate drainage, electrical connections, controls and equipment access all need to be considered during planning and installation. Our technical and project teams work with approved engineering designs and project specifications to coordinate these requirements with the relevant contractors and consultants.

For VRF and VRV installations, particular attention is given to equipment positioning, refrigerant pipework routing, system connections and manufacturer installation requirements. Chilled water installations require coordination of pipework, valves, pumps, insulation and associated equipment to support correct system operation and future maintenance access.

Our installation teams work closely with project managers and other trades throughout construction, helping ensure that equipment and services are installed in the correct locations and according to the agreed programme. We also support the testing and commissioning process, working with the relevant specialists and project teams to prepare systems for operation and handover.

Long-term performance is an important consideration for both VRF and chilled water systems. Access for servicing, system controls, equipment maintenance and operational requirements should be considered from the outset. Airwise’s experience in commercial HVAC installation and maintenance helps us approach these projects with an understanding of what is required during construction and after the building becomes operational.

Whether a project requires zoned temperature control for a hotel, a VRF installation for an office development or a chilled water system for a large commercial facility, our focus remains on accurate installation, effective coordination and dependable HVAC solutions suited to the building’s requirements.

SPECIALISED HVAC INSTALLATIONS

Planning a VRF or Chilled Water Installation?

Airwise works with project teams to install specialised HVAC systems for commercial developments, from equipment coordination through to installation and commissioning support.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Goes
Into a Successful Installation?

VRF, VRV and chilled water systems involve several connected components that need to work together. Careful installation and coordination help ensure each system is ready to operate as intended.

Equipment Coordination

Planning equipment locations and access requirements around the building's layout and services.

System Integration

Coordinating HVAC equipment, controls and associated services for reliable system operation.

Pipework Installation

Installing refrigerant and chilled water pipework according to approved drawings and specifications.

Testing & Commissioning

Supporting system checks, testing and commissioning before the completed installation is handed over.
